In Her Own Words …
Brigette (Eldridge) Dunbar joined Manatee Habitat for Humanity as a home owner in 2000. Since then, she has been able to accomplish some very important goals in her life. Here is Brigette’s story in her own words:
“Owning a Habitat home has been a blessing for my family. When I talk to people about my home, I am proud to tell them how I helped to physically build my own home and the homes of other fellow homeowner candidates. Not many homeowners can say the same.
My life has changed a lot since being in my home for eight years. I have a stable home for myself and my children. I feel more financially stable now because I know exactly how much my mortgage and other bills will be every month and I am able to budget accordingly. After going back to school three years ago I am proud to say that I now have a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
I am recently married, and we have two wonderful daughters Raven (10) and Mazie (4). I especially love this time of year because my house was dedicated in the summer of 2000. I am always amazed how fast another year has gone by. At this time of the year I like to take time out to remember where I was in my life prior to becoming a Habitat Homeowner and think about where I will be in the future because of my home.”
