Manatee County Habitat for Humanity will be building 18 homes in Ellenton.  Habitat homes mean:

  • Spirit of community service
  • Neighborhood renewal
  • Safe, decent family homes
  • A better start for the next generation - the children of these homeowners

Hope Landing will be the first Habitat community in Manatee County built entirely with energy-efficient construction techniques.  The homes here will have exterior walls made from ICF’s (Insulated Concrete Forms) which are not just energy-efficient but also storm ready and pest resistant – saving homeowners both money and time in maintenance.  The rendering below, courtesy of King Engineering Associates, Inc. shows a bird's-eye view of the homes:

Hope Landing features villa-style architecture with two homes under each roof sharing a middle wall.  This neighborhood is directly across the street from Blackburn Elementary School and located near amenities such as churches, grocery stores, banks and interstate 75.  Building will start in Feburary 2010 and the estimated completion date is December 2012.  If you would like to get involved, please consider:

  • Invest in Hope Landing by making a donation to Manatee Habitat
  • Volunteer in any aspect of Habitat - construction, the ReStore or office work
  • Bring snacks and refreshments to our construction volunteers, contact Angeline at (941) 748-9100
  • Shop at Manatee Habitat's ReStore, every purchase helps Habitat build more homes.
  • Donate items you no longer need to Manatee Habitat's ReStore by calling (941) 355-7082
